Integration in School
Many schools, like mine, contain special education programs. These programs give the proper education and direction that is necessary to foster a good learning environment for neurodiverse children.
As I look around my school, though, I realize that there is no interaction between the neurodiverse and the neurotypical. So do special education programs really foster the best environment?
There are both advantages and disadvantages to a special education program, but what we are fighting for now is the inclusion of neurodiverse individuals. Education might be the place to start.
By clubbing together the neurodiverse and neurotypical children, the two groups are more exposed to each other and gain a deeper understanding of each other. This helps make the transition into the workplace allows for proper integration in adulthood.
